We're delighted to announce that following our PC's for Charity scheme and support for the region's businesses during the Coronavirus pandemic Affinity were nominated and now formally recognised by the British Chambers of Commerce and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce as a UK Business Hero.
When the doors of lockdown slammed shut on the nation, as an IT provider, a huge emphasis was thrown onto us to ensure our clients were able to home/remote work so it was as close as possible to ‘business as usual’ for them.
From day one of lockdown our IT Support team experienced 4 times as many calls as was normal, with clients asking us to enable them to work from home with both their IT and Telephony. We enabled over 400 businesses to continue to function with the least amount of disruption possible.
During this time we also continued donating PC’s and Laptops as part of our ‘PC’s for Charity’ scheme. The scheme began in July 2019 as a generous client donated 30 machines that were due to be disposed of.
Since we set up the scheme we have helped 28 charities, large and small, directly impacting in the region of 72,000 people.
Tom Sutton, Head of Policy and Representation at Sheffield Chamber said: "2020 has undoubtedly been an exceptionally challenging year for business but your organisation has gone above and beyond to help during the Coronavirus pandemic."
Affinity MD Colin Beaumont commented: "We're over the moon to be one of a handful of businesses in Sheffield chosen as a UK Business Hero. Being in a city that hosts about 30,000 businesses, to be recognised as a UK Business Hero is particularly pleasing. During the pandemic we have worked really hard to ensure our clients could continue to work, also supporting Sheffield City Region charities who in turn have provided vital help to people in the area."
We were delighted to receive confirmation of our status along with a letter from HRH Countess of Wessex thanking us for our positive contribution.
