Microsoft 365 Teams April 2020 Update

Apr 2020

Over the last few weeks, Teams from Microsoft has become more prominent and more widely used as people work from home and meet via video.

Microsoft teams is part of the Microsoft 365 (Office 365) suite of apps which allows businesses to communicate hold conference calls and meetings over video calls both internally and externally. It also allows for projects such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents to be shared and collaborated on at the same time.

As Teams continues to evolve they have this week announced new features which are being rolled out this month in order to improve peoples teams meeting experience:

  • Background affect in Teams Meetings (Rolling out beginning in mid-April): This will allow users to select Microsoft provided background images prior to or during a video call, so any sensitive information in the background will be unviewable.

  • New experience for launching instant channel meetings (Rolling out starting in late April): Users will now see the ‘Meet Now’ button in the channel header in the top right corner.
