The improvements focus on tidying up speech automatically. It removes filler words like “um” and “like”, inserts missing punctuation, and smooths out clunky phrasing. The result is text that reads more clearly without you having to spend time fixing it afterwards.

Microsoft has confirmed that all processing happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. Dictation is also disabled automatically in sensitive fields, such as password boxes, which helps keep confidential information protected.
Who can use it?
Fluid Dictation is available only on the latest Copilot Plus PCs. These devices are built to run AI features directly on the machine. If you are using a standard Windows 11 computer you will not see the update yet.
Even so, this signals a clear direction for future Windows features. Voice dictation that feels natural, reduces editing time, and supports faster working is likely to become standard for many organisations.
